Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 4, 1986 at Visitation Catholic Church for Mrs. Sy (Dorothy) Pitzen, 77, of Stacyville.

Mrs. Pitzen died on Monday, December 1, 1986.

She is survived by her husband, Sy, of Stacyville; three sons: Thomas and Frederick of Stacyville and Steven of Adams; and a daughter, Mary Ellen of Cedar Rapids.

Hatten Funeral Home in Stacyville is in charge of arrangements.

A complete obituary will follow in next week's edition of the Press news.

A funeral mass was held Thursday, December 4, 1986, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, for Mrs. Sylvester (Dorothy) Pitzen, 77, of Stacyville. Rev. John Pitzen and Rev. Carl Manternach officiated. She died on Monday, December 1, 1986, at the Osage hospital.

Mrs. Pitzen was born on September 19, 1909, to John and Agnes (Fickboom) Coan at Rands. She graduated from Cedar Falls as an elementary school teacher and taught in Stacyville until her marriage to Sy Pitzen on June 19, 1933 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City.

She later worked as a bookkeeper for the Stacyville Elevator and was recently hired as bookkeeper for the Stacyville LP Gas Company. She was coordinator for the Meals on Wheels program in Stacyville.

She was a former member of the Stacyville Public Library Board, a 4-H leader and a play director. She was also a talented bridge player. Dorothy was a member of the Visitation Christian Mothers, the Stacyville Legion Auxiliary and the Osage chapter of the Shakespearean Club.

Mrs. Pitzen is survived by her husband, Sylvester of Stacyville; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Mary) McGlashing of Cedar Rapids; three sons: Nicholas and Tom, both of Stacyville and Stephen of Adams, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Fred (Lois) Altman of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Helene Koop of Oak Lawn, Illinois, and Mrs. Ed (Mary) Geisler of Churdan; and a brother, Louis Coan of Denver, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by one son and one brother.
