Herborg Gjertsdatter was born July 28, 18​22​ at Lindebrekke, Ulvik​, H​ordaland, Norway, to Gjert Hansen and Marta Christophersdatter. She was baptized on August 4, 1822 at Ulvik, Hordaland, Norway. Gjert was confirmed at Ulvik, Hordaland, Norway at age 16 in 1827. Confirmation record found at the Norwegian Digital Archives on-line for Ulvik, Hordaland, Norway, 1793-1838, pg 186, entry #2.

Gjert marr​ied Knut Traaum P​aulso​n on June 22, 1848 at Ulvik, Hord​aland, ​Norway. Marriage record at Norw. Digital Archives on line for Ulvik, Hordaland, Norway, 1839-1853, pg 189, entry # 19.

Knut and Gjert had eight children (all born at Ulvik, Hordaland, Norway:
Paul (1848-1927 Winnebago, Iowa),
Gjert (1850-1940 Mitchell, Iowa),
Lars (1853-1936 North Dakota),
Hans (1855-1937 Walsh, North Dakota),
Christoffer K (1858-1944 Winnebago, Iowa),
Knut (1860-1939 North Dakota),
Herborg (1863-1934 North Dakota) and
Ole K (1865-1924 Minnesota).

The couple and the six youngest children left Ulvik on April 22, 1868 to emigrate to Mitchell County, Iowa. Found Herborg in the 1870 census living at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa: Canute Pawlson 50, Herbert Pawlson 50, Paul Pawlson 22, Lewis Pawlson 20, Gert Pawlson 18, Hans Pawlson 16, Christopher Pawlson 14, Canute Pawlson 10, Ole Pawlson 4, Herber Pawlson 6.

Found in the 1880 - 1895 censuses at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa:
1880: Knut Paulson 59, Herbe Paulson 58, Paul Paulson 31, Jack Paulson 29, Knute Paulson 19, Ole Paulson 14.

1885: Knud Paulson 15, (error, should be 65), Oube Paulson 63, Ole Paulson 19. 1895: Herbia Paulson age 72.

Herborg Gjertsdatter Paulson died M​arch 24,​ 1898 at rural N​ora Sprin​gs, Floyd, I​owa and was buried ​at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cem​etery, Mero​a, Cedar, ​Mitchell, Io​wa.
