OSAGE, IOWA — Wilma Johnson, 102, of Osage, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.

Wilma Irene Troge was born September 9, 1910 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the daughter of Gustav Troge and Alvina (Hartwig) Troge.

She married Ingvald Bernard Johnson, the son of John Gustav Johnson and and Clara (Schoger) Johnson. He died August 25, 1970; (see obit for him).

OSAGE - Wilma Johnson, 102, of Osage, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the church.

Wilma was born September 9, 1910, in Cedar Township, rural Osage, the daughter of Gustav and Alvina (Hartwig) Troge. She graduated from Osage High School. On June 28, 1933, at St. John’s Lutheran in Cedar Township, rural Osage, she was united in marriage to Ingvald Johnson. Wilma was a lifelong resident of Osage, and lived at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for the past 13 years. She worked alongside her husband in his painting and interior decorating business until his death in 1970.

Wilma was very active in her church, and volunteered with the Red Cross, The American Cancer Society, disaster relief programs, and served as chair of the nursing home’s resident council. Her life was characterized by her willingness to help, support, and give of herself freely to all in need. Wilma’s family and friends will remember the touch of her love, warmth, and guidance she provided in their lives.

Wilma is survived by her two daughters, Delores Swan of Antioch, Ill., Nadine Giannopoulos of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; two grandchildren, Andreas (Liz) Giannopoulos of London, UK, and their children James and Alexander, Effie (Stephen) DuPlantis of Dallas, Texas and their children Remy and Andre; a sister, Darlene Lorence of Osage; nieces and nephew, Diane (Ron) Thompson, Craig (Jody) Lorence, Debra Lorence; great-niece and nephews, Heather Thompson, Robert (Robby) Waters, Jerry Waters, Jody Staff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ingvald; sisters, Hildegard Staff, Hulda Troge, Verena Waters; sons-in-law, John Swan, Pericles Giannopoulos; brothers-in-law, Hans Staff, Vinton Waters, Carl Lorence; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
