RITES HELD FOR C.A. RAMSAY
Funeral services for an Osage resident, Clarence A. Ramsay, 89, who died December 26, 1980, at the White House of Osage, were held on December 29, 1980.
Rev. J. Roth, was in charge of the rites at sacred Heart Catholic Church. Military rites were conducted at the graveside at Sacred Heart Cemetery by the Memorial Squad of American Legion Post 278. Arrangements were by C.R. Champion and Sons.
Clarence Allen Ramsay was born on August 27, 1891, in rural Meltonville, Iowa, the eldest child of David and Christena Elizabeth Gordon, Ramsay. He attended rural schools in Worth county, the Cedar Valley Seminary and Southern Minnesota College of Engineering in Austin.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War I, and held 60 years of continuous membership in the American Legion. After returning from service he established his own business in Otranto, later moving to Floyd and Osage.
On August 1, 1923 he was married to Margaret Violetta Riley, at St. Patricks Church, rural Elma. To this union were born three children: Marie, Paul and Joseph, all of whom preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sisters, Mrs. Deola Wryn of Glendale, California, and Mrs. Florence Smith of West Branch; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Celia Ramsay of St. Ansgar, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
