MALCOM MEDIN
A PROMINENT BUSINESS MAN OF DELL RAPIDS DIED SUNDAY NIGHT OF HEART TROUBLE

The citizens of Dell Rapids were greatly surprised Monday morning by learning that M. Medin, a prominent business man of this city had died Sunday night. Mr. Medin for some time had been afflicted with the heart trouble and last Saturday was taken with another attack which terminated in his death.

All Saturday night the physicians worked with the patient and in the morning it was thought he was somewhat easier, but he soon took another change for the worse and all that medical skill could do was of no avail.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, services being conducted at the Baptist Church by the Rev. C. M Cline. Members of the I.O.O.F., and Knights of Pythias Lodges attended the funeral in a body, the deceased being a member of both orders. The remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery.

Malcom Medin was born at Erbro, Sweden, April 3, 1842, and died in Dell Rapids, Sunday, November 3, 1901, aged 50 years and seven months.

In June 1869, Mr. Medin came to America and located at Saint Ansgar, Mitchell County, Iowa. On April 26, 1870, he was married to Augusta Lovestrum. Five sons and one daughter were born to them, all but one surviving, who with the widowed mother are left to mourn the death of a kind and affectionate father and a loving husband, The youngest son, Harry, died in infancy.

In 1899, Mr. Medin engaged in the furniture business at Kensett, Iowa, the family moving to the new location the following spring. In April 1891, after disposing of his furniture store at Kensett, he came to Dell Rapids and took up the same line of business which he continued in until the time of his death.

By his energy and carefulness in business affairs, Mr. Medin accumulated a considerable amount of property and leaves his wife and family well provided for. By his death Dell Rapids loses a highly respected citizen and business man.
