FRANCIS LESTER HILL. – November 9, 1871 – January 25, 1942

Frances Lester Hill, 70, of 309 Conger street, died at 3:30 a. m. Sunday at Allen Memorial hospital following a stroke.

He had been employed by the Illinois Central railroad for 20 years. For the past six years he had been night telephone operator at the shops. Prior to that he had been employed in the Illinois Central freight office.

Before becoming employed by the railroad he had worked for the Moore &. Moore Lumber Co. At one time he had worked as station agent for the Chicago Great Western railroad at David, Iowa. In former years he had also operated a farm four miles north of Waterloo.

He was born on Nov. 9, 1871, at Osage, Iowa, the son of Bradbury and Dorinda Hill. On Dec. 3, 1902, he married Lulu Kenyon at Osage. He had been sick since Jan. 1.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. E. C. Sheeley, Portland, Ore.: Mrs. James L. Black, Wayne, Mich., and Mrs. W. H. DeLong, 305 Broadway; one sister. Mrs. Gertrude Blumer, Hollywood, Cal. and one brother, Clifford N., of Los Angeles. Two grandchildren also survive. James LeRoy Black, Jr., Wayne, Mich., and Nancy Irene DeLong, 305 Broadway.

His wife died on Dec. 29, 1936. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a. m. Wednesday at the Parrott & Wood chapel by Rev.
Harold Singer, pastor of St. Paul's Methodist church. Burial will be in Osage. Members of the family will receive their friends from 7 to 9 p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
