Birth: Dec. 28, 1918, Minnesota.

Death: Dec. 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Leon was a Navy Seaman First Class aboard the USS Oklahoma in Pearl Harbor, when the Japanese attacked in 1941. He was declared missing in action; and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Erma Marie Vergate Arickx (1884-1962)

Inscription:
Sea1c -- Seaman, First Class

It is believed that his body is still missing, but there are "memorials" at Pearl Harbor and at Sacred Heart Cemetery at Osage, Iowa.
