MITCHELL – Funeral rites will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home for L. R. Dockerty, 81, longtime Mitchell County Resident, who died Monday at a Mason City nursing home. Burial will be in a Phoenix, Arizona Cemetery beside his wife, who died in December, 1949.

Born August 28, 1869 at Sextonville, Richland County, Wisconsin, where he spent his youth, he married Irma Vosburgh on February 18, 1894, and the couple lived near and in Mitchell all of their married life. He served as mail carrier from 1910-1934, when he retired.

He leaves a daughter, Ruth, guidance instructor in the Osage Schools, three brothers and a sister also preceded him in death.

Lew Roy Dockerty was born August 28, 1869 in Sextonville, Wisconsin, the son of Ephriam Dockerty and Elizabeth (Williams) Dockerty.

He married Irma Alice Vosburgh, the daughter of Horatio L. Vosburgh and Rebecca Marietta (Calwell) Vosburgh.

They had one daughter: Ruth Vosburgh Dockerty born February 8, 1895 in Mitchell Iowa (from her Iowa birth record). She died October 27, 1993 in Osage.
