Dolores Ann (Riggins) Karwac

November 17, 1934 -- July 19, 2009

YORKTOWN - Dolores Ann Riggins Karwac, 74, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Mary Immaculate Hospital.

Dolores has gone to join her late husband of 53 years, Jerry Raymond Karwac, who always referred to her as 'my bride.'

Dolores is survived by her son, Jerry R. Karwac Jr. and his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Deborah Housden and her husband, Bill, two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Also left to cherish memories of Dolores are her sister, Doris R. Burcher and husband, Linwood; brother, J. Otis Riggins Jr. and his wife, Laura; and a sister-in-law, Mary Schallock, who resides in Osage, Iowa.

Dolores had a long career with the York County School Board, where she served as an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, and was the Clerk of the School Board, until her retirement.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at Grafton Christian Church with Dr. Paul Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will be held in the church social hall following interment. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.

Dolores Ann Riggins was born in York County, Virginia, the daughter of James Riggins and Lorean (Hudgins) Riggins. .

She married Jerry Raymond Karwac who was born October 30, 1928 in Osage, Mitchell, Iowa, the son of John Wilhelm Karwac and Juanita Elvira (Cook) Karwac.

Dolores and Jerry are both buried in the Grafton Christian Church Cemetery, Grafton, York County, Virginia.
