Funeral services were held this afternoon for Mrs. John Wiger from the home at 1:30 and at the First Lutheran church at 2:00 with the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough in charge of obsequies.
Death came to Mrs. Wiger last Sunday night at 11:20 after an illness of just nine months duration.
Margit Thorson Wiger was born February 17, 1860, at Gol Hallingdal, Norway, at which place she was baptized by the Rev. Kjerulf. At the age of five years she came to America with her parents and settled on a farm in Newburg township.
She was confirmed by the Rev. Johann Olsen on October 4, 1874, and was united in wedlock to John Wiger on December 20, 1888. They settled on the W. Fulton place in Newburg township, later moving to a farm five miles northwest of St. Ansgar, which they purchased and lived there until moving to St. Ansgar in 1919.
Mrs. Wiger was the daughter of Knud T. and Soneva Thorson, and the last surviving of a family of six children. She has always been a faithful member of the First Lutheran church. Last November her health began to fail and she passed away suddenly last Sunday night, June 23. She is survived by her husband and a number of nieces and nephews. Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery.
