Ingeborg Fosholdt was born November 17, 1880 at Rock Grove Township, Floyd County, Iowa to Syver Johnsen Fosholdt and Johanna Haraldsdatter Grov, the fourth of their eight children. She was baptized on December 19, 1880 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. Her baptismal sponsors were: Guri Aspenholdt, Christoffer Goplerud, Gunhild Aspeholt and John F Fosholdt Mikkelsen.

Ingeborg died April 21, 1881 at home at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Iowa.

(Five years later, her parents had a daughter and named that baby Isabelle Ingeborg Fosholdt. It is a Norwegian custom to name a second child after the first child if the first has deceased.)
