Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine M. Wirth, 87, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center November 3, 1978, were held November 6 at First Lutheran church here with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating.
Josephine M. Wirth, daughter of William and Josephine (Klecak) Sramek, was born January 4, 1891 in New York City, N.Y. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed December 3, 1939 in First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, where she remained a faithful member.
After graduating from high school she was employed as a bookkeeper in New York City until her marriage to John Wirth March 15, 1914 in New York City. Three children were born to them. They established their home on a farm east of St. Ansgar where they farmed until the death of her husband in 1945. Mrs. Wirth moved to a home in St. Ansgar in 1950 where she resided until she entered the Good Samaritan Center October 31.
She was active in her church and the St. Ansgar Garden club as long as she was able. She was active in organizing, and served as the first president of the Music Mothers at the St. Ansgar school.
Mrs. Wirth was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, one brother and one great grandchild. She is survived by one son, William J. Wirth of Elm Grove, Wisconsin; two daughters, Mrs. Darwin (Alice) Rhoades, St. Ansgar, and Mrs. James (Marjorie) Reynolds of Naugatuck, Conn., one sister, Mrs. Hugo (Rose) Kovarik of Ulster, Penna.; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. S. Engelstad in charge of committal services.
