Marie (Mary) Finsand 1882-1928

Marie (Mary) Finsand was born September 26, 1882 at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Tosten Olsen Finsand and Margarethe Halvorsdatter, the eighth of their twelve children. Marie had a twin brother, Ole, who was stillborn on the same day, September 26, 1882.

Marie was baptized at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa on October 29, 1882. Her baptismal sponsors were Syver Fosholdt, John Olsen, Gunhild Tidemandsen and Mathea Tidemansen. She was confirmed at RCLC on June 13, 1897.

Found in the 1895 to 1915 censuses living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1895: Marie Finson age 11.
1900: Torsten Finsand 63, Magrethe Finsand 53, Peder Finsand 23, Chrestian Finsand 21, Martin Finsand 19, Maria Finsand 17, Oscar Finsand 12, Theodor Finsand 9, Annie Olsen 78.
1905: T O Finsand, Margrete, Peter, Martin, Maria, Oscar, Theodore.
1910: Margarethe Halvorsdatter Finsand 64, Peter Finsand 36, Maria Finsand 26, Theodore Finsand 19.
1915: Mary Finsand age 32, says "dull" (probably mentally handicapped), Lutheran.

Found in the 1920 census at Washington, Buchanan, IA. as a patient at Independence, Iowa Hospital for the Insane: Mary Finsand age 36.

Marie Finsand died February 19, 1928 Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
