Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Annie Thompson, 82, at the E.M. Torblaa home and at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. O.A. Langehough in charge. Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery.
Mrs. Annie Thompson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.M. Torblaa on September 20. She was born June 18, 1861, on a farm one-half mile north of St. Ansgar where she grew to womanhood. She was baptized by Pastor H.A. Neus and confirmed by Pastor Johan Olsen in the Lutheran faith.
On September 26, 1881, she was united in marriage to Bernhart Olsen of Lyle, Minn., where a daughter, Lulu was born. In a few years her husband died, after which she returned to St. Ansgar to make her home.
In May 1887, she was married to Just Thompson and to this union four children were born: James, who passed away in 1909, Nellie, Arthur and Belva. While these children were very young she suffered the loss of her husband and through the coming years she struggled persistently to care for her little family.
Mrs. Thompson was a devout christian, always faithful in her attendance at divine services and receiving the Holy Sacrament regularly. She was a charter member of the First Lutheran Ladies Aid and gave of her time and services to help further the program of the society and the church.
In the community she was always active in assisting her friends and neighbors when in need, possessing a never failing spirit of devotion, not only to her family, but to her church and friends as well.
During the past few years her strength gradually waned until she passed away September 20. She leaves to mourn her passing, four children: Mrs. H.F. Loomis of Glenwood, Minn.; Mrs. Harry D. Mills of Calif.; Dr. A.W. Thompson of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; and Mrs. E.M. Torblaa of St. Ansgar; two grandchildren, also two sisters and three brothers; Mrs. Christine Christianson of Enderlin, N.D.; Mrs. Belle Hes______of Grand Forks, N.D.; Amos Golberg, Fargo, N.D.; Olaf Colbertson, Enderlin, N.D.; George Colbertson, Albert Lea, Minn.
