Funeral services for Theodore A. Thompson, 81, who died at his home in St. Ansgar, May 13, 1958 were held May 16 at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. Don R. Hamilton officiating.

Theodore Andrew Thompson was born in Mitchell County, the son of the late Michael and Andrine Thompson July 21, 1876. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith in the First Lutheran church of St. Ansgar. In 1905 he was united in marriage to Alma Ostenson, to which union four sons and three daughters were born.

Mr. Thompson had been engaged in farming in LaMoure County, North Dakota, Mower county, Minnesota and Mitchell County, Iowa. In 1951 he retired to a home in St. Ansgr where he lived until his death at the age of 81 years, nine months and 22 days. He was active throughout most of his life in church, school, farm and community affairs.

He was keenly interested in state and national affairs and retained this interest throughout his later years, when a physical handicap cnfined him to his home. In 1955, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, a sister, Caroline, a brother, Henry, and his wife. Survivors include his seven children and 11 grandchilren, two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Hanson of Carpenter and Sophie of St. Ansgar.

Six of the Thompson children attended the funeral They were Melvin of Hazel Crest, Illinois; Edward of Salem, Virginia; Dean of Morton Grove, Illinois; John of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; Alice (Mrs. Kurt Leuthy) of Washington, D.C.; Mildred (Mrs. Bernie Hanson) of St. Ansgar. Another daugahter, Marie (Mrs. Werner Erickson) of Topanga, California was unable to be present.

Others from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Pedersen of Mound, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Hammond of Radcliffe, Iowa and Mrs. Ted Norager of Radcliffe.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Hamilton in charge of the committal services.
