Mrs. Randi Stovern whose maiden name was Kittlesby was born at Kittlesby, Rengerike, Norway, April 12, 1828. There she grew to womanhood and on September 29, 1845, was married to Erick O. Stovern, who died in February 1895, at the age of 76. The family came to America in 1851, settling at Calmar in Winnesheck county. There they remained only three years and in June 1854 arrived at St. Ansgar and at once settled on the farm north of St. Ansgar which was to be their home unto death. Mrs. Stovern was the mother of ten children, nine of whom are living.

She also had 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Death came to her very suddenly on August 15, 1897. The funeral was conducted by Rev. J. Olsen at the Norwegian Lutheran church of St. Ansgar, August 19, 1897, and her remains were laid to rest in the St. Ansgar Norwegian Lutheran cemetery. A multitude of friends sincerely mourn her loss and deeply sympathize with her loved ones in their affliction.
