RICEVILLE WOMAN DIES OF BURNS
Riceville, Ia. – Mrs. Earl Marr, about 40, who resided six miles southeast of here on a farm, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday in Cedar Valley Hospital at Charles City, where she had been taken Monday suffering severe burns from an accidental explosion.
Mrs. Marr had been starting a fire in her farm home range Monday morning, reportedly had intended to pour kerosene on it when the can exploded. She rushed to the farmyard, where her husband and his sister, Mrs. Merwin Kennedy, extinguished her burning clothes.
Burns covered all excepting her face, it was reported.
Born in Riceville as Emma Dynes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Val Dynes, Mrs. Marr had cared for her invalid parents until four years ago when they preceded her in death. She later married Earl Marr and they had been farming since.
