OSAGE, IOWA - Dorothy Heimendinger, 82, of Osage, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, at the Orchard Cemetery in Orchard, Iowa, with Pastor Jan Tjaden officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Dorothy was born June 27, 1930, in Clear Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Ina (Edwards) Miller.
She was united in marriage to Orville Heimendinger in May of 1949 in Austin, Minnesota. They farmed south of Osage where they operated a used farm machinery business, and raised horses, mules and donkeys. She was an important part of all aspects of the family business. Dorothy enjoyed embroidery, going to auctions and garage sales, playing the accordion, and surfing the internet. She loved miniature donkeys and her parrot, Maggee.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Lenice (Paul) Menke of Clear Lake, LaDonna (Rodney) Gray of Buffalo Center, Deanna (Dana) Andreasen of Forest City, Ken Heimendinger of Osage, Wanda (John) Stricker of Orchard; 12 grandchildren, Kevin (Shelly) Helmers, Chad (Renee) Helmers, Tammy Helmers, Teresa (Jamie Krull) Gray, Tara (Daren) Gray-Daugaard, Tonya (Tim Mulholland) Gray, Jennifer Raw, Brian (Collette) Andreasen, Heather Burkhardt, Brad Allison, Kaitlyn Stricker, and Alicia Stricker; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Dwayne (Ardith) Miller of Charles City; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Willrett of Britt and Pearl Miller of Clear Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville in 2010; two brothers, Laverne and Orville Miller; and a sister, Bonnie Miller.
