Funeral services for Inger P. Syverud, 89, a former resident of St. Ansgar, who died in a nursing home in Nora Springs, March 5, 1953, were held March 9 at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran church here with the Rev. O.A. Langehough officiating.

Inger Paulina Syverud, the daughter of Nels and Beret Syverud, was born in Blue Mounds township, Dane county, Wisconsin, January 15, 1864. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. In 1869 she moved with her parents, brothers and sisters to a farm near Rock Creek, Mitchell county, Iowa.

Here she was confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran church by the Rev. J.O. Olsen. In 1888 Miss Syverud moved to St. Ansgar where she kept house for her brothers, Ole and John, for a 25 year period after the death of their parents.

She lived alone until 1947 when failing health made it necessary for her to reside in a nursing home in Nora Springs. Miss Syverud had been bedfast for four years. Death was due to the infirmities of old age.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by three nephews, Albert Hegg of Osage, Edgar and Henry Syverud of Dagmar, Montana; four nieces, Anna Nordbo of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Oliver Ness of Minot, North Dakota, Mrs. Tilda Borge of Osage and Mrs. George Gisleson of Floyd.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Langhough in charge of the committal services.
