Funeral services were held at Faith Lutheran church in Mitchell for Thorvald Synsby, 76, who died February 22, 1967 at Mitchell County Memorial hospital where he was a patient during the past month.
The Rev. William Kamke of Toeterville, church pastor, was in charge of the services and arrangements were by C.R. Champion and Sons. Burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Thorwald O. Synsby was born in Norway May 14, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Synsby. He came to Mitchell county in his youth and served the United States in service during World War I. Following his discharge he began farming west of Mitchell.
He was married to Lottie Ask of that community, November 16, 1921, and continued to farm in that area. Mrs. Synsby died June 5, 1965. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church first affiliating with Immanuel Lutheran in Osage. Following the disbanding of this church, he became a member of Faith Lutheran in Mitchell.
He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Donovan Mallery (Alda) of Rudd and Mrs. Orland Cooley (Doris) of Ridgway; seven grandchildren, one brother, Andrew Olson of Williston, N.D., two brothers and one sister still in Norway, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
