Viola B. Hanna, 86, of Nora Springs, Iowa, died Friday at the Nora Springs Care Center.

A funeral Mass was held on Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Rockford, with Rev. D. Rausch officiating. Burial was in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Viola Hanna was born on April 4, 1906 at New Haven, Mitchell County, Iowa, to John Peter and Anna (Meyer) Kirst. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy, New Haven in 1924 and from the College of St. Teresa, Winona, Minnesota in 1928. After four years of teaching in Minnesota high schools and two years as assistant county superintendent at Osage, she married Walter T. Hanna in Burt, Iowa, on June 2, 1937.

Mrs. Hanna was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, the St. Teresa Circle and the American Council of Catholic Women. Her favorite hobbies were music and oil painting.

Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Larry (Rosanne) Lehrke of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Mrs. Robert (Darlene) Doolittle of Webster City and Marlene Fullerton of Maple Grove, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Tod and Rick Doolittle of Webster City, Troy Doolittle of West Des Moines, Lisa Tegtmeier of Ankeny, Brian Fullerton of Coralville, and Keith Lehrke of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one great-grandson, Dakotah Doolittle of Webster City; one brother, Joseph Kirst, New Haven; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, and two sisters.
