OSAGE, IOWA — Services for Mrs. Venus Cook, 82, a former resident who died Wednesday evening at the Mercy Hospital in Mason City, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Paul W. of Westland, Michigan; five daughters: Mrs. John Karwac of Osage, Mrs. C. L. Moran of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Harold Brown of Hartford, Wisconsin, Mrs. W. V. Naber of Dunnellon, Florida, and Mrs. Irvin Munkel of Lime Springs; one sister, Mrs. Gail Reed of Southfield, Michigan; 36 grandchildren; and 61 great-grandchildren.

Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Venus Cook of
Osage Dies at Age 82

Mrs. Venus Cook passed away Wednesday, April 14th at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, Mason City, Iowa, at the age of 82 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her son, Paul Cook, Wayne, Michigan and five daughters, Mrs. John Karwac, Osage; Mrs. Nell Moran, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Harold Brown, Hartford, Wisconsin; Mrs. Wally Naber, Dunnellon, Florida and Mrs. Irvin Munkel, Lime Springs; one sister, Mrs. Gail Reed from Detroit, Michigan, 36 grandchildrenand 61 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, April 17th at the 1st Baptist Church at Osage with burial an the Osage cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Munkel and family and Mrs. Helen Sutphin and daughter attended the services on Saturday.

Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. V. Venus Cook, 82, who died on April 14, 1971, at St. Joseph Mercy hospital in Mason City. Mrs. Cook had fallen on April 14, and suffered a broken hip.

Rev. L. Norris, pastor of the Congregational church in Osage, was in charge of the services at the Baptist church and arrangements were by C.R. Champion and Sons. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Vivian Venus Dawson was born on November 20, 1888, in Atlanta, Indiana, the daughter of John and Amanda Tilman Dawson. She spent her younger years in Indiana.

William L. Cook and Venus Dawson were married on March 21, 1906, the Noblesville, Indiana. Mr. Cook was in the restaurant business in Nobleville. The family later moved to Union, Iowa, and Rolfe, where he also owned and operated restaurants. They moved to a farm near Little Cedar, and in 1917 to Osage, where Mr. Cook purchased the restaurant and home of Jake Wold.

Mr. Cook died in 1957, and since that time Mrs. Cook made her home with her daughters, Roberta in Cedar Rapids before becoming a resident of the IOOF Home in Mason City in February, 1969.

Survivors include one son, Paul W. Cook of Wesland, Michigan; five daughters: Mrs. John Karwac (Juanita) of Osage, Mrs. C.L. Moran (Helen) of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Harold Brown (Vivian) of Hartford, Wisconsin, Mrs. W. V. Naber (Adeline) of Dunnellen, Florida, and Mrs. Irvin Munkel (Roberta) of Lime Springs; 36 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren; also one sister, Mrs. Gail Reed of Southfield, Michigan.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, one son, Cecil, one daughter, Agatha, five sisters and one brother.
