OSAGE, IOWA - Avis Myers, 75, of Osage, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the United Church of Christ in Osage with the Rev. Duane A. Lookingbill officiating.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

#2:OSAGE, IOWA - Avis Myers, 75, of Osage, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, of complications from Multiple Myeloma at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She spent much of the last year in the care of her daughter, Sandy, in Ankeny. Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the United Church of Christ in Osage with the Rev. Duane A. Lookingbill officiating, luncheon to follow. Family and friends are invited to a gathering from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Avis Marie Dihlmann was born in Mason City on September 22, 1936, the second daughter of Ervin F. and Katherine (Sandrey) Dihlmann. She attended Mason City schools and graduated from Mason City High School in 1954.
She was united in marriage to Norbert F. Carman of Waterloo on Jan. 15, 1955, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Three children were born to this union: Randy F., Sandra M., and Eric P. Carman.
In addition to raising her family in Osage, she attended and graduated from North Iowa Area Community College in 1971 with a nursing degree. She worked at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital for many years.
Avis will be remembered as a lover of animals and having a genuine respect for nature. She enjoyed gardening and had a passion for her beautiful flower beds. Avis was a sweet, loving, and supportive grandmother and will be missed dearly by her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are her children, Randy (Mary Lou) Carman of Frankenmuth, Mich., Sandra (Mark) Fischels of Ankeny, Eric (Pam) Carman of Minnetonka, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Catherine (Kevin) Tuczek of St. Clair Shores, Mich., Sarah Carman of Berkeley, Calif., Michael Carman of Frankenmuth, Mich., Michelle Lacy of Iowa City, Nicole Lacy of Ames, Rachel Lacy of Ankeny, Samuel and Zachary Carman of Minnetonka, Minn. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathleen Wild of Mason City and Ellen Zimmermann of Austin, Texas.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to The Humane Society of North Iowa, 2700 Birch Drive, Mason City, 50401, http://www.hsni.org/ in the name of Avis Myers.
