Delphine “Della” Inez (Hardy) Webster – April 1, 1859 – November 2, 1931

TRIBUTE FOR MRS. WEBSTER

Della Hardy was born April 1st, 1859 in Howard County where she grew to womanhood. She was the daughter of William and Mary (Hunter) Hardy and was one of nine children, five of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Eliza Cole of Dell Rapids, S.D., T.J. Hardy of Cresco, Iowa, Mrs. Josephine Becker of LeRoy, Minn., Wm. J. Hardy of Scranton, N.D., and Mrs. O.F. Yager of Riceville, Iowa.

On Sept. 13, 1879 she was married to John Christopher Webster. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Winifred Webster Timm, and her husband, Walter W. Timm of Webster Grove, Mo., to survive her.

Mrs. Webster lived in Cresco until 1918 when she moved to Concord, New Hampshire, residing there until 1926 at which time she took up her residence in Webster Grove, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis.

After an illness of four months she passed away in St. Louis, Mo. Funeral services were held at Webster Grove and at Riceville where interment was made in the family lot.

For many years Mrs. Webster was a loyal member of the Congregational church of Cresco and at the time of her death she was a member of the First Congregational church of Webster Grove.

Her days were filled with an untiring energy in doing for others and with an unceasing devotion and loyalty to loved one(s). She never thought of self when there was an opportunity of doing some kindly act for others. Her life was an exemplification of happy cheerfulness, and in it there was never any room for bitterness towards things or people. She loved and enjoyed life and human contacts, and in a like manner she was enjoyed and loved by all who knew her
