Gertrude Nelson, 97, of Riceville, Iowa passed away Tuesday July 19, 2011 at the Riceville Family Care and Therapy Care Center.

Gertrude Wilhemina Nelson, daughter of John and Lena Dehrkoop Nath, was born on December 23, 1913 in Auburn, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Kermit Nelson in Saratoga, Iowa. Gertrude was a homemaker.

After her first husband's death, she married Howard Shane.

Survivors include: daughters, Nita (Ronald) Albertson of Calmar, Iowa, and Marlene (Roger) Berg of Decorah, Iowa; sons, Curtis Nelson and John Nelson of Lime Springs, Iowa; four grandchildren: Duane (Beth) Albertson of Calmar, Iowa, Barbara (Kurt) Hemesath of New Hampton, Iowa, Kelly (Gena) Nelson of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Laurlae Winfield of Riceville, Iowa; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a daughter-in-law Cindy Nelson, and a foster brother Donald Waliezier.

Visitation: Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Service: Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, Iowa. Burial will be in the Saratoga Cemetery in Saratoga, Iowa.

RICEVILLE — Gertrude Nelson, 97, of Riceville, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at the Riceville Family Care and Therapy Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 22, at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, with the Rev. Tim Sir officiating. Burial will be in Saratoga Cemetery in Saratoga.

Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home.
