Our people were shocked Sunday morning to learn that O.O. Rustad, a farmer residing about three miles northwest of town, had died during the night. The report was at first descredited, but later it was confirmed by members of the family.
Mr. Rustad has been a sufferer from asthma for many years and of late has been troubled with the dropsy. On Saturday he was about his place as usual and retired at a seasonable hour. He awoke during the night and coughed violently. He got up and seated himself in a chair. His wife placed a pillow to his head and he appeared to be resting comfortably. At three o'clock, Mrs. Rustad went to his side and was surprised to discover that her husband was dead. Mr. Rustad was fifty years of age and has resided in Newburg township since in 1859.
He was married about nine years ago and leaves a wife and two children to mourn his death. As a citizen he was very highly respected. A good neighbor and a kind and affectionate husband and father.
The funeral services were held at the Norwegian Church yesterday morning and were attended by a vast concourse of relatives and friends. One by one they pass away. The surviving widow and fatherless children have the sympathy of all in this their hour of sad affliction.
