We clip the following account of the death of Al Miner, well and favorably known to a great portion of our readers, from the Press of the 5th inst.

Allen Miner died at Petrotie, California, January 8, 1880, at 3 o'clock p.m., aged 72 years, 8 months and 24 days. Mr. Miner was one of the early settlers of this county, (Mitchell) and lived for many years at Mitchell, and was well known to all the early settlers in this county, and was always recognized as a good citizen, a kind and obliging neighbor and a steadfast friend. He was a member of the M.E. church, and did much in the early days to build up the church interests in the early settlement of this section. He went to California many years since to reside with his children who had made a home on the Pacific coast. We knew him intimately, and to know him was to honor and respect the man. Peace to his ashes.
