DIED - Phillip Redfield senior, on the 30th of March 1888, of a complication of diseases combined with old age. He was the father of Russell Redfield, and with his wife as been staying with him in Riceville most of the winter, both winning friends on all sides.

He was taken sick the next day after the family moved out to the farm, and lived only one week.

The funeral service, conducted by Rev. Cassidy of Riceville, was held at the residence of his son the next day, and was attended by a large crowd of sympathizing friends. There were twenty-six teams in the procession that left the house for the cemetery at Brownvlle, where the remains were interred. The sermon was well received and appreciated by all who heard it.

Mrs. Redfield wishes to express her thanks to all who lent their aid and sympathy during her husband's sickness and in the performance of the last sad rites that can be bestowed in this world.

Mr. Powers Redfield, the oldest son of the deceased, came from Wisconsin in answer to a telegram, just in time to see and converse with his father before he died. Mr. Redfield was always possessed of a cheerful disposition and was a great favorite, particularly with his grandchildren, who with all the family, will greatly miss the genial and pleasant father and Grandfather.
