Nels H. Rust was born June 17, 1854, on the old homestead north of St. Ansgar, Iowa. He was baptized by Rev. Clausen, and in 1869 he was confirmed by the same pastor in the newly organized congregation here. In July 1883 he was united in marriage to Betsey Mikkelson at Osage, Iowa. They moved on his farm near Toeterville, Iowa, which has been their home ever since. Their union was blessed with four children, Henry, Gilman Frank, Ida and Nellie, all of whom were with their mother when the death angel came, on Sunday evening, November 12, and took a kind husband and a loving father to his Heavenly Home.

Mr. Rust had lived on the same farm for 41 years, and his many friends and old neighbors join in extending their sympathy to the bereaved wife and family.

His illness had extended over a year, but since his operation 2 months ago, he had failed rapidly. The past three weeks he had been confined to his bed a patient sufferer. But his trust was in his Savior, with whom we hope he is now, while we mourn his departure.

The funeral was held Thursday, November 16 at the N.L. Church, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Waldeland, and his casket laden with beautiful flowers was lowered in the family lot at the cemetery north of town, where his body rests till the Great Resurrection Day, when we shall all be reunited again.
