Memorial services were held on Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Riceville for Mrs. William (Verna) Bahnsen, a lifelong resident of Riceville, who died on Wednesday, July 11, 1984, at her daughter's home in Jackson, Michigan. The body was cremated.

Mrs. Bahnson is survived by her husband, William "Butch"; three daughters; Dixie Noble, Jackson, Michigan; Donna Kontas of Washington state, and Della Chambers of Colorado; and by two sons, Daniel Bahnsen, Cedar Rapids, and Darrel Bahnsen of Wisconsin.
