Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 19, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville, for Mabel Priem, 83, of St. Ansgar. Rev. C. Bunk officiated at the service, with burial at the Priem cemetery, rural St. Ansgar. She died on Monday, April 16, at the Good Sheperd Nursing Home in Mason City.
Mabel Bublitz Priem was born in Newburg township, Mitchell county, Iowa, on May 26, 1900 to Leo and Lydia Kruger Bublitz. She was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton, Iowa.
On November 7, 1920 she was united in marriage to Rufus Priem. They lived west of St. Ansgar until 1946 when they moved to their farm at Toeterville. [Later] they moved to their new home in St. Ansgar. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville and an honorary member of the ALCW and Ruth Circle.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Fern) Bond of Mason City and Sylvia Buringrud of Fairfield, California; one son, Raymond of St. Ansgar; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Lully Kirchgatter of Osage, Dorothy Zuehl of Toeterville and Lucille Mitsch of Bakersfield, Calif., and one brother, Harold of St. Ansgar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rufus in 1968; a son, Arthur in 1970; a grandson, Ronald in 1978; one sister, Esther (Mrs. Carl Voight) and one brother, Walter.
