Martha Anderson was born January 29, 1882 at Clermont, Fayette, Iowa. to Nils Anderson and Anna Maria Halvorsdatter Horgen, the second of 10 children. Her siblings were:

1. Albert (born 1878 either Norway or Fayette, Iowa);
2. Lena (born 1885 Fayette, Iowa); Henry (born 1888 Iowa, died 1967);
3. Henry (born 1888 Iowa, died 1967);
4. Oscar (born 1890 Iowa);
5. Gilbert (born July 5, 1893 Floyd, Iowa, married Stella Isabel Odden June 4, 1918 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died May 24, 1969 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa);
6. Alma Nellie (born October 10, 1896 Floyd, Iowa, married Oscar Richard Virchow before 1920 Iowa, married second to Weaver Clark);
7. Olga (born October 1899 Floyd, Iowa, married Lloyd Rucker, married Glen Godfry, may have married Arthur Noble Nelson after her sister Nora died, Olga died June 2, 1987 Decorah, Iowa);
8. Lester R (born October 16, 1900 Floyd, Iowa, married Mabel Elnora Odden June 24, 1925 Mitchell, Iowa, died September 4, 1979 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa) and
9. Nora (born 1903 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, married Arthur Noble Nelson, died 1969 Iowa).

Martha married Leonard Isaac Turnmire (born October 25, 1881, died October 26, 1948 Mower, Minnesota) on October 11, 1902 at Floyd, Iowa. Their children were:
1. Elmer L. Turnmire (1904 - 1935),
2. Ivan Turnmire (1905 - 1963),
3. Clark David Turnmire (1906 - 1977),
4. Norma E. Turnmire (1911 - 1962, her obit is on the Mitchell Co Gen Web) and
5. Wanda Turnmire (1917 -).

Found Martha in the 1885 census living at Clermont, Fayette, Iowa: Nels Anderson 30, Anna Anderson 24, Albert Anderson 7, Martha Anderson 14 (wrong, should be 3), Dortha A Johnson 22.

Found in the 1900 census at Floyd, Floyd, Iowa: Nels Anderson 45, Annie M. Anderson 39, Albert Anderson 21 (born in Iowa); Martha Anderson 18, Lina Anderson 14, Henry Anderson 12, Oscar Anderson 10, Gilbert Anderson 6, Alma Anderson 3, Olga Anderson 7/12.

Found in the 1910 census at Saratoga, Howard, Iowa: Leonard J. Turnmire 30, Martha Turnmire 27, Elmer L. Turnmire 6, Nels J. Turnmire 5, Clark D. Turnmire 3.

Found in the 1915 census at Bradford, Chickasaw, Iowa: Martha Turnmire age 33.

Found in the 1930 census at Pleasant Valley, Mower, Minnesota: Lenard Turmire 49, Martha Turmire 48, Elmer Turmire 26, Evelyn Turmire 21, Norma Turmire 19, Wanda Turmire 13, Dorothy Turmire 2[2 7/12].
