W. M. Hubbard, formerly in business in this city, was brought here for interment Thursday, 19th.
Mr. Hubbard was born near Orchard, Mitchell county, Iowa, Dec. 8th, 1868 (sic). In July, 1887, he married Miss Edith Whitman, who died Sept. 1st, 1890, at Kimball, South Dakota, and her remains were brought here for burial.
To Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard were born two children. The daughter, Lena , while very young, was called to her heavenly home. Little Donald is gladly given a home with his grandparents at Orchard, Iowa.
Mr. Hubbard died at the home of his parents of heart failure the 17th . He was a kind friend a generous companion, but like too many others was a wanderer from his heavenly Father's house. This he realized before it was too late, and like the prodigal son of Holy Writ, determined to rise and go to his Father's house.
Early last fall he told his mother these facts and at once began to put his word into act. He was attending school when taken sick. He seemed to realize that his departure was near. Christian friends prayed with him and he prayed for himself with faith in Jesus as a personal savior his departure was much a happier event for him. A funeral service having been held at his home, only a brief service was held at the Free Baptist church in this city, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. R. Toothacre. Many relatives and friends of the deceased were present from Ruthven and other parts. His body was laid to rest by the side of his companion and daughter in west side cemetery.
