Jeremiah “Jerry” Sheehan Lund – January 30, 1917 – January 9, 2002

LUND - Jerry S. Lund of Cypress Village, Jacksonville, Florida died on January 9, 2002 at Baptist Medical Center, a month after suffering a fall.
Born Jeremiah Sheehan Lund in St. Ansgar, Iowa on January 30, 1917, he was the youngest of four and the last surviving member of his family.
Mr. Lund attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon Iowa, and then began work with the George A. Hormel Company in Austin, Minnesota in 1937. After completing his education at the University of Iowa, he became a Naval Aviator in 1943, serving in the Pacific theater.
In 1945, he married Mary Jean Daugherty of Austin, Minnesota. Returning to Austin, he resumed work at Hormel, by 1959 advancing to a position as manager for a growing Southeastern branch in Atlanta. He retired in 1979 after 37 years with Hormel Foods, and moved to Fernandina Beach. In 1994, he and his wife moved to Cypress Village in Jacksonville.
His wife of fifty five years, Jean, died in 2000. He married Edith M. Allgood of Jacksonville in August, 2001.
In addition to her, he is survived by sons Jerry of Leyden, Massachusetts; John of San Francisco, California; daughter Mary Ellen Mortensen of Ambler, Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Cypress Village, in Egret Hall, on Sunday, January 27th at 5:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Inc., 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. Please sign the Guestbook at Jacksonville.com

Jeremiah “Jerry” Sheehan Lund was the son of John Peter Lund and Minnie Esther (Sheehan) Lund.
Jerry was buried in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, Duvall County, Florida.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
