MRS. ANNA BRAINARD
During that long life of 72 years and 27 days, extenidng from her birth to John Henry and Susanna Struck in Kilbourne City, Wisconsin, on August 12, 1864, down through the years to the very hour of her death on September 9, 1936, in Stacyville, Iowa, Mrs. Anna Brainard lived the usual human life with its usual mingled joys and griefs; its periods of elation and its sloughs of despondency and depression, without being changed form her native buoyant spirit and way of living.
On the 19th day of March, 1889, she was married to John B. Scantlebury and for the following 39 years lived with him in loving companionship until death claimed him and broke the family life on the 18th say of July 1928.
After a brief period of widowhood, she married Henry Brainard, of Stacyville, on October 10, 1929, and lived happily with her husband until June 27, 1931, when death again entered her home and took Mr. Brainard from her.
Since the death of Mr. Brainard she lived in the David community for a time and then moved to Stacyville to be closer to her physician and her church; and its has been in Stacyville that she passed her last days among her many friends and acquaintances.
The past summer had been a joyous one to her, for she spent the time with her two sisters--Mrs. J.C. Crane, of White Creek, Wisconsin, and Mrs. W.G. La Fon, of San Antonio, Texas, who, together with several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, remain to mourn her passing from death until life.
Mrs. Brainard . . . . [ the rest was omitted].
