OBITUARY -- ERIKSON

One of the old members of the Lutheran Church passed away at her home in Osage last Thursday morning.

Mrs. Kari Erikson was born in Hadeland, Norway, May 31, 1842, where she was baptized. When she was nine years of age, she came, with her folks, to America and settled in Lafayette county, Wisconsin, where she lived until the spring of 1863, when she came to Clayton county, Iowa. Her she lived for three years.

On May 10, 1866, she was united in marriage to Edward Erikson. That same month Mr. and Mrs. Erikson came to Mitchell county, where they have lived ever since. They lived on their farm in the Rock Creek settlement for thirty-five years. In the fall of 1905 they retired from the farm and moved to St. Ansgar, where they lived until April, this spring, when they purchased a home in Osage, where Mrs. Erikson died, July 26, 1917.

Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Erikson. Three died in their childhood and one son, Lewis, died at the age of 23. Besides her husband, two sons, Carl, of Nora Springs, Peter at home, and two daughters, Mrs. Albert Torney, of Osage, and Mrs. Nels Jackson, of Kanawha, Iowa, survive her.

On May 10, 1916 they celebrated their golden wedding. At that time they had many of their friends from St. Ansgar, Rock Creek, and Osage with them.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon. A short service was held at the home in the English language. The service was held in the Rock Creek church, where she has been an active member for 35 years. She was laid to rest on the family lot in the Rock Creek cemetery.
