#2:TORNEY
Mrs. Mary Jessie Torney passed from this life at Osage, Iowa, September 20, 1898, aged 26 years, 11 months and 3 days.
In early life she gave herself to the Lord and united with the Congregational church, at Osage on profession of faith, where she remained until after her marriage to Mr. George Torney, of Rock township, Iowa, which took place March 26, 1896.
She united with the Rock Creek Baptist church by baptism and was a faithful and exemplary member til her Father called her up higher.
Mrs. Torney was well known in Mitchell county, having taught school in Osage and other places.
None would be more greatly missed than Sister Torney. There will be a vacant place in the church, in society, in her home.
Funeral services were held at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Dr. Blakesly, in Osage on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, by her pastor, Rev. H. Grant, of West Mitchell, assisted by Rev. Dr. Gist, pastor of the Congregational church, Osage.
To her husband, her mother and many sorrowing friends, we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
