Vernon Arthur Kuhlman was born to Hans and Cora Kuhlman, March 9, 1912 in Worth County, Iowa. He was a child of God by holy baptism, July 7, 1912, and was confirmed on May 9, 1926, at the Deer Creek church by the Rev. M. E. Waldeland.

He attended and graduated from the Carpenter high school in 1930. He was united in marriage on June 21, 1936, with Miss Luella Halstad, of Northwood, the marriage being solemnized in the Shell Rock Lutheran church west of Northwood, just a little over three months before he met a tragic death.

Death came at the Albert Lea, Minnesota, hospital early Saturday morning, October 10, 1936.

Those who most deeply mourn his loss are his wife, Mrs. Luella Kuhlman; his parents, nine brothers and sisters -- Charles and Harold, of Carpenter; Mrs. LO. Berg, Northwood; Berniece, Howard, Helen, Jay, Harley and Allen, all at home.

The funeral was held at the Shell Rock church with Rev. Ylvisaker in charge, and burial was in Sunset Cemetery at Northwood.
