With .22 Rifle During
Wife's Absence

L. R. Tabor, 63, Little Cedar painter and decorator, took his own life late Monday afternoon, shooting himself through the temple with a .22 calibre rifle. Mrs. Tabor was away from home for a time, and when she returned, found him slumped in an arm chair, but still living.

Aid was summoned and a doctor called, but Mr. Tabor passed away a few minutes after they had placed him upon his bed.

A note was found on a nearby table, in which Mr. Tabor said, "This was the way he chose to die," and he left directions for a simple home funeral. However, it is believed that ill health and financial trouble influenced his action. Deceased was born at Waverly on September 3, 1873, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Tabor.

The Tabor family moved from St. Paul to McIntire about ten years ago; then about seven years ago moved to Little Cedar.

Surviving with the wife and mother are nine children -- Mrs. H. Dyrdahl, Clair and Louis, of Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. S. Grant, of Decorah; Lloyd and Arnold, of Austin; Mrs. Lyle Hill, of Little Cedar, and Gordon and Fern at home.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon in charge of the pastor of the Little Cedar Methodist church and burial was in the Little Cedar Cemetery.
