GENE TORNEY DIED
SUNDAY AFTERNOON
FROM SCARLET FEVER

Gene Richard, 4-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond P. (Billie) Torney, passed away Sunday afternoon, following a couple of weeks illness from scarlet fever and double pneumonia.

The home was quarantined soon after he became ill, and by then Mr. and Mrs. Torney, Gladys, Earl and 6-month-old Shirley Jane also were ill. None of them have been in a critical condition; Mable, a 10-year-old daughter, is the only one of the family not ill.

Gene was born here on October 8, 1932 and his short life had been spent practically in one place.

A private funeral was held at the Osage cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m., in charge of the Rev. John D. Kern, pastor of the Baptist church, and burial made on the family lot.
