Funeral services were conducted for George C. Rust, Fargo, North Dakota, from the First Lutheran church here, with Olaf A. Langehough in charge of the services.
George C. Rust, 60, LaMour county farmer many years and a Fargo resident since 1928, died of heart disease January 17, 1939 at his home.
Mr. Rust was born at St. Ansgar, Iowa, March 25, 1878. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Colburn Hanson Rust, who preceded him in death in 1926.
On June 8, 1898, he was married to Ida Strand of Lyle, Minn. In the spring of 1906 the family moved to North Dakota and settled on a farm near Marion. They lived there until moving to Fargo in 1928. Mr. Rust was a former LaMour county commissioner and held several school board and township offices. He was employed by the State Hail department from 1918 until 1932.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Clayton of Devils Lake, and Gerald of Valley City, N.D.; two daughters, Irma Rust, a teacher at Proctor, Minn., and Mrs. C.E. Koch of Rowlins, Wyo.; two brothers, Henry E. Hansen and Halvor O. Hansen and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Hansen of St. Ansgar.
Funeral services were held at Fargo, N.D., on Friday. The body was then broght to St. Ansgar where services were again conducted from the First Lutheran church. Wm. Groth sang Mr. Rust's favorite hymn, "The Old Rugged Cross." He was laid to rest in the Evergreen cemetery, north of St. Ansgar.
Pall bearers were Lincoln Priem and Charles Culbertson of Carpenter, Adolph Strand of Lyle, J. Wiger, Henry Thorson and Anton Groth of St. Ansgar.
