DIES AT HOME OF
MRS. WM. HEIN

Mrs. Vallie Groff died Thursday, June 29, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Hein, at New Haven. The cause of death was carcinoma. Mrs. Groff was born at Reading, Pennsylvania, August 3 ?, 1872, the daughter of John and Elmira Speicher. Her marriage to Ed Groff took place in Pennsylvania in 1888. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1926.

Surviving are four sons -- Roy, Floyd and John of Waterloo, and Eddie of New Haven -- also the daughter mentioned above: two brothers, John and George Speicher of Spokane, Washington; a sister, Mrs. Jerome Bensing, of Waterloo; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in dath were three brothers and a daughter, the latter of whom died in infancy.

Funeral services was held on July 1, 1944, at the Champion Funeral Home and at the Osage Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. T.P. Solem, pastor. Interment was in the Riceville cemetery. Pallbearers were her four sons and two grandsons, Dale Graff and Edwin Hein.

Among out of town relatives and friends attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Bensing, Mrs. John Speicher, Mrs. Charles Beiner, Mrs. Harvey Mumby, Mrs. W. Freeman, Ethel Prugh, Mrs. Louis Diedrich of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Eschweiler and Mr. and Mrs. William Worple of Elma.
