CLEAR LAKE, IOWA - Kevin Wayne Gunsallus, 54, of Clear Lake, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., in Mason City, with Pastor Dan Gerrietts and Pastor Lee Laaveg officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery, Osage.

There will be a visitation from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, and then one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. Family suggests memorials to Kevin Wayne Gunsallus Memorial Fund.

Kevin was born on October 22, 1957, in Osage, the son of James and Phyllis Gunsallus, and was the oldest of their three children. He grew up in rural Osage before moving to Clear Lake in 1983.

Kevin is survived by his parents, James and Phyllis Gunsallus; a brother, Michael Gunsallus; a sister, Venita (Denis) Chezik; three daughters, Jacqlyn (Bill) Ferjak of Minneapolis, Minn., Jennifer (Tom) Faber of Clear Lake, and Jessica (Pete) Cash of Ventura; and by three grandchildren, Lorelei and James (Jessica) Cash, and Kennidy (Jennifer) Faber. Kevin is also survived by three nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Daniel and Megan (Venita) Chezik.

While Kevin was not working in his chosen profession, design engineering at IMT in Garner, he enjoyed many things in life. His passions included motorcycles, cars - Corvettes in particular, snowmobiles, Vikings, Hawkeyes, and the Minnesota Twins. He often tried to enjoy many of these activities on the same weekend.
When he wasn't out enjoying those activities he always enjoyed his other passion, spending time with his family. Kevin often visited his parents on the weekend and cherished many days spending time with his daughters and their families. From play dates with his grandchildren to going to help work on his daughters' homes or out to sporting events with them, work or play, any excuse to spend time with his family was a treasured day.
