OSAGE, IOWA — Committal services for Lawrence "Shorty" Gaarder, 50, of Shelton, Washington, formerly of Osage, who died April 4 at Anchorage, Alaska, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Osage Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Shelton, Wash.; a brother, Merrill of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Elaine Ennis of Holiday, Florida, and Anita Nelson of Mason City.

Champion Funeral Home in Osage in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence Charles (Shorty) Gaarder, age 50, died Monday, April 4, in Anchorage, Alaska. A committal service will be held at a later date at the Osage cemetery. Champion Funeral HOme is in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence Gaarder was born July 22, 1933, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Henry and Cordelia Hansen Gaarder. He graduated from Osage High School with the class of 1950. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church by Rev. Solem.

He was currently employed by the Rowan Drilling Co. at Prudoe Bay, North Slope, Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Norman Gaarder, of Osage.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Shelton, Washington, where they made their home; one brother, Merrill of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Elaine) Ennis of Holiday, Florida; and Mrs. Earl (Anita) Nelson of Mason City, Iowa.

Graveside committal services will be held on Thursday, April 21, 1983, at the Osage Cemetery, for Lawrence Charles (Shorty) Gaarder, age 50, who died April 4 in Anchorage, Alaska.

Rev. H. Larsen of Our Savior's Lutheran Church will officiate at the service. Champion Funeral Home wil be in charge of arrangements.
