OSAGE, IOWA — Services for Max Schmarzo, 84, who died Friday at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, were 2 p.m. Monday at Champion Funeral Home; burial in Osage Cemetery.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Earl Lewis of Osage.

He was a retired Municipal Utilities worker.

Funeral services for Max Schmarzo, age 84, who died Friday, April 8, 1983,at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital where held on Monday, April 11, 1983, at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage. Rev. J. Gilbert officiated at the service and burial was in the Osage cemetery. Champion Funeal Home was in charge of arrangements.

Max was born on September 12, 1898, the son of August and Augusta Hensel Schmarzo, on a farm near Little Cedar. He attended country school until 1913 at which time the Schmarzo family moved to Osage. He graduated from Osage High School.

He worked for Central States Power and Light in 1923 and worked for them for 26 years. He worked for the Municipal Light Company for 22 years, and retired on December 31, 1967. He then went to work for the Bellingham, Washington, shipyards for a couple of years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; his parents; three brothers: Ernest, William and August; five sisters: Louisa and Anna Schmarzo, Mrs. Nicholas (Minnie) Lorenzen, Mrs. J.B. (Amanda) Willis and Mrs. Albert (Amelia) Grover.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Earl (Lottie) Lewis of Osage; there nephews, Richard Lorenzen of Seattle, Wash., Gordon Schmarzo, Sioux City, and Kenneth Schmarzo of Charles City.
