Edward Abel Brandt – ca. 1903 – July 27, 1950

FORMER OSAGE MAN DROWNS IN MINNESOTA

Edward Brandt, 47, formerly of Osage, drowned Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Cedar River below the dam at Austin, Minnesota. Funeral rites are pending.

A veteran fisherman, Brandt, was fishing off the dam when he slipped on moss and fell into the river. Fishermen nearby were unable to rescue him.

The firemen came within a matter of minutes but were unable to revive him.

He was in in Wisconsin and married Carmen Kindschuh of Osage, June, 1938. They have lived here and near Osage for seven years and established residence in Austin in 1945. Deceased since had been employed by Hormels.

Survivors include his wife, an 11 year old son, Ralph Edward Brandt, both of Austin; two brothers in Wisconsin and a sister in California.

Funeral Rites will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home for Edward Brandt, drowning victim. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery.

Edward Abel Brandt was born in Wisconsin. He married Carmen Kindschuh, the daughter of Ralph Kindschuh and Viva (Shotliff) Kindschuh.

MOVING TO OSAGE
Osage, Ia. – Mrs. Carmen Brandt and son of Austin, Minnesota, have purchased the former Framstad estate home in Osage, in third ward, and will move here within the near future.

Her husband, the former Edward Brandt, drowned at Austin, last month. Mrs. Brandt was formerly of Osage prior to her marriage.

Note: Carmen married Harold Tibbits after the death of her 1st husband. She is buried in the Osage Cemetery.
