Mrs. Christena Thompson, wife of our old and esteemed citizen and neighbor, Just Thompson, died Saturday night at about 11 o'clock after a painful illness of two weeks; aged 39 years, 7 months, and 25 days.

The deceased came to this country with her parents about twenty-five years ago and settled in Iowa county, Wisconsin. She was married to her surviving husband on November 19th, 1868. In April, 1870, they removed to St. Ansgar, where they have since continued their residence. Mrs. Thompson was a lady who enjoyed the confidence and esteem of a large number of warm friends.

She was energetic, kind hearted, a true wife and good neighbor and her death removes from among us one of our best lady citizens. At 7 o'clock Saturday night she realized that her days and hours upon earth were about numbered, and requested to see as many of her friends as possible to bid them a last farewell. A large number of ladies responded to her invitation. She bade them all good-by and assured them that she was fully prepared to meet Death. At about 10 o'clock she commenced growing weaker and in a few minutes became unconscious. She lingered along for about an hour, when the brittle thread of life was broken.

The funeral services were held on Monday in the Norwegian Lutheran Church, of which Church the deceased had been a life-long member, and were very largely attended. After the services the funeral cortege moved to the cemetery where all that is mortal of a good woman now rests in peace.

The husband and relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of this community in the loss of a true wife and affectionate sister.
