CHARLES H. BENLEY
DIED THURSDAY
AFTER SHORT ILLNESS

Charles Henry Bentley was born in Edgerton, Rock County, Wisconsin, September 27, 1844. His father left him and his mother, seven sisters and one brother by the roadside at Austin Minnesota. He was the eldest and the only support of the family.

He came to Osage, Iowa, from Austin Minnesota, at the age of 17 years, and resided here until his death. Mr. Bentley worked for Mr. E. S. Fonda for 18 years and also worked at his trade of Mason and Carpenter, in fact, he has worked at every kind of work.

Charles Bentley put his two sisters, Louisa and Anna, through Cedar Valley Seminary. They became school teachers through his help.

He was married to Anna Wright, of Osage, Iowa, May 10 1889, at Osage Iowa. To them were born for children, three sons and one daughter: March and Henry, of Osage, Iowa, and Charles, of St. Paul Minnesota, and Mrs. Minnilia Berggren, St. Paul.

He died August 7 at 12 AM, after about a week's illness.

He left to mourn his loss his wife, three sons, one daughter, and a cousin, Mrs. Carrie Hammond, of Osage, Iowa.

He joined the Methodist Church after his marriage. He was a kind and loving father.
