David E. Keeton

STACYVILLE, IOWA - David E. Keeton, 72, of Stacyville, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, December 16, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, Riceville. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 407 Woodland Ave., Riceville, Iowa 50466.

David E. Keeton was born on May 1, 1939, in Goldfield to James Sr. and Stella (Wilder) Keeton. On July 26, 1975, he married Shirley Smith in Fountain, Minnesota.

Dave worked for the railroad and enjoyed collecting Northwestern railroad memorabilia. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog Muffy, collecting old radios, antiques and old cars. Dave made many trips to the Diamond Jo Casino and various casinos to try his luck gambling and eat at the buffet. He loved socializing with people and attending family gatherings.

Dave is survived by his children, Tom (Vickie) Caswell, of Mason City, Chuck (Linda) Caswell, of Walhalla, North Dakota, and Sherry (Robert) Kruse, of McIntire; his grandchildren, Christina (Justin) James, of St. Ansgar, Sarah (Kyle) Hobbs, of Orchard, Michael (special friend Laura House-Jarvis), of Stacyville, Ashley Caswell, of North Branch, Minn., Brandie (Aaron) Hoven, of North Branch, Minn., and Nathan (Tanya) Caswell, of Rochester, Minn.; great grandchildren, Jase, Jax, Taylor, Carsyn, Lilly, Kaden and Katrina; his brothers, James (Mary), of Norfolk, Va., John Edward, of Panwell City, Fla., Marshall, of Riceville; his sisters, Ruth (Everett) Beals, of Chariton, Carolyne (Larry) Bliven, of Rudolph, Wis., Judy (Kenny) Portis, of Riceville, Lois (Albert) Winkels, of McIntire and Ruby Losee, of Riceville, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley, a sister, Nancy, brother, Caroll, grandson, Matthew, and granddaughter, Alyssa.

Memorials may be given to the Wayne Baptist Church in McIntire.
