Pauline (Conger) Moore -- April 15, 1923 – May 2, 2011

Pauline (Polly) Conger Moore passed away May 2, 2011 at age 88.

Born in Riceville, IA, to Dairy Farmer Clarence Emerson Conger and mother, Ruth Kruger. The Conger Farm is one of Iowa's "Century Farms" still farmed by the Conger Family.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Architect Hugh Moore Jr., whose father was co-founder of the Dixie Cup Company.

Four children, Judy, Heath, Alison and Sallie also survive. Son Jason died by suicide leaving daughter, Lyndsay, nine other grandchildren and twin great-granddaughters, Pauline and Catherine.

Polly used her talents in many ways serving as Architectural Librarian at Penn State College, where she met Hugh during World War II, then as personal assistant to New York City fashion designer Hope Skillman.

Following her marriage in 1946, when Hugh was a reserve officer in Korea, she played leading ladies in The Little Theatre of Lafayette College. Later she opened an antique shop in their summer home on the Delaware Canal.

Polly was a civil rights activist and a life- long member of the NAACP. She was a founding member of the Easton area Women's League for Peace and Freedom and initiated the first silent vigil protesting the Vietnam War, which grew from five to hundreds of protesters during the course of the war. Polly and Hugh relocated to Italy after President Nixon was re-elected and when he escalated the war.

In retirement, she and her husband divided their time between sunny Tucson, AZ. and the Chianti Region of Tuscany, living the last five years at "Amber Lights." No Memorials are planned. Arrangements by DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME.

Pauline Conger was born April 15, 1923, the daughter of Clarence Emerson Conger and Ruth Augusta (Kruger) Conger.

Her mother Ruth died October 21, 1924. Her mother had been in poor health for a year and was operated on for gall stones and appendicitis and her condition strength, however, to rally from this second ordeal, and passed away.

Her father remarried to Alyce Frances Jennings. Her mother, father, and step-mother are buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Mitchell, Iowa.
